• What were the short term causes?

• What were the trigger causes?

• What were the long term causes?

• "and" "in" "the" typically are not necessary
• remove words like "why" or "how" or even "causes"

• place your terms in quotes to find that exact phrasing
• while this does narrow down your results, you may be eliminating other phrasings

• if your first results don't seem right, try rephrasing your search
