This category requires readers to ask one of their friends for a book recommendation! The book can be from any genre, as long as it wasn't picked out by the reader themselves. It can be a book the friend has read for Book Bingo, or not!
As part of the 6th Grade Book Tasting we held in the library (in preparation for Bingo), we scheduled time at the end for discussion, so everyone could have a chance to talk about a book they recommend from the tables, or one they thought looked interesting. We encourage students to discuss the books they're reading throughout Book BIngo.
Since all of the books read for this category have been recommended by the 6th grade (not the librarians), the reading suggestions below will be titles that have actually already been read for the bingo category! We'll continue to add books from this category as they're read.
Reasons to Recommend a Book
1.) You can't put it down
2.) The characters in the book are interesting
3.) The story is exciting and unpredictable
4.) The author uses descriptive language that's fun to read
5.) The story teaches you something you think others should learn, too
"There is nothing quite like a good book recommended by a good friend. If you can’t find the words to console or distract or amuse someone in need, or if you’re looking for a holiday gift for a person who has everything, go to your own bookshelf or a bookstore (new or used). Select a favorite book for your friend. The newness of the binding doesn’t matter; it’s the act of sharing that binds."
