Swank Instructions

To Start Using Swank:

  • To see our Swank video collection go to this link (bookmark it for easy access!) & use the faculty credentials on this page to log in.

  • If you see a movie in the collection and it says "Request" - hit request and fill out the quick form. We should have it available in 48 hours or so. Please state an academic reason in the request form (ex: Requesting for 8th Grade Humanities class, Requesting for an Advising Lesson, etc.)

It is about a 48-hour turnaround for us to get movies that you would like to view into the Swank library (unless it says "Watch" next to the movie - then it's ready immediately!)

Follow these steps for what we think is the most reliable way to stream a movie from Swank.

We've found that there are a few different ways to stream a Swank movie, but this one might be most reliable because it allows for buffering or other interruptions. If you have found another way to do it that works, continue doing so!
Important:
  • You must be using the Safari browser (not Firefox or Chrome).
  • You cannot be both Airplaying + following these steps, OR hardwiring and airplaying at the same time.
Wall Panel: Click "On" and then select VIDEO. Use the arrows on the bottom to adjust volume. Note: If your room has 2 HDMI ports in the wall, you may need to select COMP instead. To adjust volume, you may need to use the up and down arrows on the wall. Changing it on your laptop does not always work.

Open the Swank login link or direct link to the movie in the Safari browser (the button you will use only appears in Safari currently).

Press this button to pull up the internal Swank Airplay menu. If you don't see this button, make sure you are in Safari (not Chrome, or Firefox).
This button replaces the need to screen mirror from the top of your Macbook, as well as hardwire - it will not work if you're trying to do both things.

Select the room you're in & adjust the little volume level in this view if necessary. Otherwise you will use the volume buttons on the wall panel to adjust the volume.
