Mirrors & Windows

Upper School Reading Recommendations: Mirrors & Windows

"Education needs to enable the student to look through window frames in order to see the realities of others and into mirrors in order to see [their] own reality reflected."

Emily Style, National SEED Project

This guide offers reading recommendations of contemporary young adult fiction to offer Upper Schooler's access to "windows" and "mirrors".

Each page offers recommendations featuring diverse protagonists and authors to better educate ourselves about ourselves and others. There are also nonfiction recommendations.

This page is a work in progress; not all identities are represented. Every effort has been made to represent diversity within these listed identities to explore intersectional identities. Please offer recommendations and return back often!

Each book is available in ebook and/or audiobook format. Click the book covers to go to Berkeley Carroll's OverDrive page. Login information is available on the Password Page.
