Cesar Chavez and Dolores Huerta lead La Huegla (1965-70); Chicano movement.  U.S. Immigration and Nationality Act sets a limit of 120,000 immigrants yearly from Western Hemisphere (1965).

Immigration Reform and Control Act offers amnesty to certain groups of illegal aliens, including agricultural laborers (1986). North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) reduces trade barriers between Mexico, United States, and Canada.
